The intervertebral disks are the cushions that sit between the vertebrae of the spine. They are often a source of spinal pain. Your doctor may have ordered discography to help determine which if any of your disks are causing your low back or neck pain. Generally, discography is a diagnostic tool and not for spine pain therapy. A needle is carefully inserted into the disk with x-ray guidance. The disk is then filled with a contrast agent to look for disk damage and determine if the disk is painful or not. Surgical planning often considers the result of this test. “Kind. Caring comforting really put me at ease prior to my procedure”
